The Central Board of Direct Taxes (“CBDT”) vide Notification No. 06/2023 dated February 16, 2023, has specified the ‘Secretary (Information Technology & Digital Service Department), the Directorate of e-Governance, Government of Tamil Nadu’ as the authority for sharing information about taxpayers. This information sharing aims to identify genuine beneficiaries and to ensure proper implementation of all the centrally sponsored and state welfare schemes in Tamil Nadu.
