The Goods and Service Tax (GST) officials on Friday slapped a fine of Rs 1.86 lakh after a truck carrying plastic goods was intercepted at Premier Junction.
The vehicle was intercepted on suspicion of tax irregularities on Thursday night and the truck was transporting the goods from Maharashtra to Muvattupuzha. The load had a combination of taxed as well as untaxed items and a fine was slapped on the item which was brought without paying tax by the GST officials.
In another incident, district level waste management enforcement team seized banned plastic products kept in a godown of Maruti Plastic in Pullepady Crossroad. They also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on them.
