An assembly session will be convened in April to get passed the State GST bill.

Finance Minister Thomas Isaac informed this while addressing a meeting of traders, merchants etc prior to the presentation of State budget. The meeting was also an occasion for them to submit all instructions and grievances on GST.

“For the past 3-4 yrs, there has been no growth in State revenue,All businesses were dull,” he said at the function organised by Gulathi institute.

“With the implementation  of GST, the government will be trying to clear the arrears related to the VAT. Rs 7000 crore is the amount the government has to collect on this account.But most of the cases in this regard are in courts and Tribunals. Dragging on the case will neither benefit merchants nor the government. The government is for out-of-the-court settlements and instructions for this is being invited from merchants,” he said.
