2017 was indeed an eventful year with introduction of one-of-its kind mammoth Indirect Tax reform in the form of GST. Undoubtedly, early hiccups faced in the first year of GST implementation took a toll on businesses in initial months, but, 2019 is set to mark another eventful year by bringing into effect, slew of amendments in the work-in-progress GST law. Relevant notifications in this regard are also issued appointing February 1, 2019 as the date on which various amendments in the CGST, UTGST, IGST and Compensation Cess Acts, 2017 will be made effective except for new return provisions and transitional provisions.
