1.Amendment to allow unloading of imported goods and loading of export goods or any class of such goods at Dharma Port, Odisha

The Central Board of Excise & Custom vide Notification No. 44/2017- Customs (N.T.) dated May 11, 2017 has further amended Notification No. 62/94-Customs (N.T) dated November 21, 1994 dealing with ‘Custom ports – Appointed for Specific Purpose’ by substituting against serial number 9 relating to the State of Orissa, in column(3), against item (4) relating to Port Dhamra, for the entry relating thereto in column (4) in following way:

With effect of this amendment, any class of goods can be unloaded for import & loaded for export from Dhamra port in Orissa.

2. Levy of definitive anti-dumping duty on import of ‘Hot-rolled flat products of alloy or non-alloy steel’ originating in or exported from China PR, Japan, Korea RP, Russia, Brazil or Indonesia for a period of five years

The Central Government (“Government”) vide Notification No. 44/2017-Customs (ADD) dated August 8, 2016 had imposed Provisional anti-dumping duty on import of ‘Hot-rolled flat products of alloy or non-alloy steel’ (“subject goods”) falling under chapter headings 7208, 7211, 7225 or 7226 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 originating in, or exported fromChina PR, Japan, Korea, Russia, Brazil or Indonesiaand imported into India, for a period not exceeding six months i.e. upto February 7, 2017.

Further, the Government vide notification No. 05/2017-Cus (ADD), dated the February 7, 2017 has extended provisional anti-dumping duty on the subject goods for two month i.e. up to and inclusive of April 7, 2017.

Now, the Government vide Notification No. 17/2017-Customs (ADD) dated May 11, 2017hereby imposes definitive anti-dumping duty on the subject goods for a period of five years from the date of imposition of the provisional anti-dumping duty i.e. August 8, 2016, and shall be payable in Indian currency:

Provided that the said anti-dumping duty shall not be levied for the period commencing from the date of the lapse of the provisional anti-dumping duty i.e. April 8, 2017 to May 11, 2017.
