The Nashik-headquartered All India Wine Producers’ Association of India (AIWPA) has upped the pressure on the Centre to bring grape wine under the ambit of Goods and Services Tax (GST). The association recently met a secretary-level official in the Union finance ministry and put forth their demand.
“We will soon approach the GST Council and urge it to take a serious note of our demand. We are making allout efforts to get our demand fulfilled by the government,” association president Yatin Patil said on Thursday. He said there are different taxes in different states and uniform tax on grape wine across the country is possible only after it is brought under the GST net.
