Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said that Bihar has become the highest achieving state in the country with 18 percent in net GST tax collection in 2019-20. 10,755 crore came under the government’s treasury last year under GST, while this year this recovery has increased to 12,640 crore.
Similarly, despite poor conditions, the collection of tax by commercial tax, registration, transport and mining departments has also increased by about 15 percent compared to previous years.
Modi said, that compared to 22,656.79 crore in 2018-19 of commercial tax, 26,407.53 crore has been collected in 2019-20, which is 16.5 percent more than the previous year. It also includes GST, electricity surcharge, occupational tax, tax on petroleum products and recovery of arrears of VAT.
The Transport Department has achieved an overall growth of 25.22 percent by collecting 2612.0 crore in 2019-20 as compared to 2085.94 crore in 2018-19. The collection of Registration Department was 4422.0 crore in 2019-20 as compared to 4188.61 crore in the previous year, which is 5.57 percent more than the previous year. There is a possibility of additional collection of 250 crores under the Department of Incorporation. The tax collection of the mining department is 1611.0 crore in 2019-20 as compared to 1560.65 crore in the previous year.
Congratulating all the personnel of tax collection, transport and mining department, including the tax department of Commerce, said that in the year 2019-20, Bihar got twice the floods, despite heavy damage due to heavy rainfall and hail in very large areas. It is commendable to achieve an increase in tax collection. But after the circumstances arising out of the corona epidemic, the next year is going to be very difficult in terms of tax collection.
